From boat technology to logistics infrastructure
For UFB, the logistics question was larger than the vessel itself. CargoOne and the wider system architecture addressed the movement of goods between road, water, ports and digital infrastructure.
The startport relationship provided an environment in which UFB could position autonomous water transport directly against the requirements of logistics operators, ports and intermodal transport systems.
The truck on the water
A later startport interview documented UFB’s ‘Truck on the Water’ concept and the strategic idea of shifting appropriate freight flows from congested road infrastructure onto waterways.
For due diligence, startport therefore represents more than accelerator participation: it documents early market access to the logistics ecosystem and the translation of autonomous maritime engineering into a freight and infrastructure use case.
